Number analysis

HOT & COLD NUMBERS

Based on all draws for the selected day. Numbers that appear more often are hot; less often are cold.

FREQUENCY HEATMAP

📊

Every number has an equal 25% chance of being drawn each game (20 of 80). Hot and cold patterns are normal statistical variation. They do not predict future results.

PUT THESE NUMBERS TO WORK

Hot and cold runs never move the odds, but spot count and bet size do. These work out what a Washington Daily Keno ticket is actually worth.

CURRENT STREAKS

Hot and cold runs across the draws shown above. Like every keno pattern, these are statistical noise: fun to watch, never predictive.

The math behind keno

HOW WE CALCULATE ODDS

All keno probabilities come from the hypergeometric distribution, the same formula used in every state lottery's official odds disclosures.

HYPERGEOMETRIC PROBABILITY

The probability of matching k of your m spots when 20 numbers are drawn from a pool of 80. Each draw is independent, so past results never influence future outcomes.

C(n,k) is the binomial coefficient: the number of ways to choose k items from n. This is pure combinatorics: no estimates, no approximations.

P(k) = C(m,k) · C(80−m, 20−k)C(80, 20)
Worked example · 6-spot, hit all 6:
C(20,6) / C(80,6) = 38,760 / 300,500,200
= 1 in 7,753

PLAYING WASHINGTON DAILY KENO

The results above come from Washington's Lottery Daily Keno, a single nightly drawing rather than a monitor game.

Draw schedule and what a session costs

Daily Keno draws once a night at 8:00 PM Pacific Time, and ticket sales pause from 7:45 PM to 7:46 PM around the drawing. You pick 1 to 10 spots from a field of 80 and stake $1, $2, $3, $4, $5, $10 or $20. A $1 ten-spot pays $100,000 for all 10; prizes scale with your stake up to a $500,000 maximum on any one ticket, shared equally if more than one ticket matches all 10.

Where to play

Daily Keno is sold statewide at licensed Washington's Lottery retailers: convenience stores, grocery stores and gas stations, from Seattle and Tacoma to Spokane and Vancouver. Because it is a nightly draw rather than a bar-monitor game, there is no venue you need to sit in to watch it; you buy before 7:45 PM and check the numbers afterwards.

No add-ons, and a very deep archive

Daily Keno has no multiplier and no bonus-ball add-on, so the Multiplier column above stays empty and what you see on the prize grid is what you win. What Washington does have is history: the lottery's own past-drawings archive reaches back to 1992, which is far deeper than any other keno game we track and makes long-run frequency analysis genuinely meaningful rather than a few weeks of noise.

Claiming a win, and what tax applies

Smaller prizes are normally paid straight back at the retailer that sold the ticket, and larger ones go through a lottery claim center or a mail-in claim. Federal rules treat a state lottery keno prize like any other lottery prize: once your winnings minus the wager clear $5,000, the lottery withholds 24% for the IRS before it pays you, and smaller prizes can still be reported on a Form W-2G. Washington levies no personal income tax, so there is no state withholding on a Daily Keno prize and the federal withholding is the only bite taken before you are paid. Check the lottery's own claim page for current thresholds before you plan around a number.

Worth knowing

A 10-spot that matches none of the 20 drawn numbers pays $3 on a $1 play, the same as matching 5 of 10. On a once-a-night game that catch-zero prize is the outcome you will see most often after a losing ticket, at about 1 in 22.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

No. Every number has an equal 25% chance of appearing in any given draw (20 out of 80). Hot and cold patterns are statistical artifacts of small samples. They do not predict future draws. Each draw is independent.
